Brown sugar 'factory' busted; 3 women held with No 4

While Thoubal Police busted a brown sugar manufacturing unit at Moijing today, a team of Bishnupur District Police arrested three women along with 43 soap cases containing heroin (No 4) at Laimaton VDF Post along the Old Cachar Road this afternoon.
Thoubal District Police today achieved a milestone by busting a brown sugar manufacturing unit at Moijing Mina Bazar this morning.
A huge quantity of suspected brown sugar weighing 222.85 Kgs was seized from the spot along with many substances suspected to be ingredients used in manufacturing brown sugar.
One woman was also arrested from the spot.
Displaying the seized items before media persons at Thoubal District Police headquarters, Thoubal SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam said that a large team of district police including women personnel commanded by Addl SP (Ops) O Wangkhomba and Thoubal Commando Unit OC N Sadananda and acting under his (Jogeshchandra) supervision carried out a search operation at the residence of Thoubalmayum Ahamadi Bibi (48) w/o Th Kadimur alias Kadim of Moijing Mina Bazar.

In the course of the search operation, four large plastic sacks of yellow colour, one red plastic container and one blue plastic container (Brite) which contained suspected brown sugar were recovered.
On testing the substance which were found concealed in the plastic sacks and containers in the presence of civil witnesses, the substance was confirmed as brown sugar, Jogeshchandra said.
The four yellow sacks contained 109.48 Kgs of brown sugar, the blue plastic brite contained 58.19 Kgs while the red plastic brite contained 55.18 Kgs of brown sugar.
Moreover, one wooded crushing machine, one electric mixing machine, one weighing machine, two bottle containing 1.5 litres of Ammonium Chloride, two plastic brites containing 134 litres of an unknown chemical liquid solution, one blue drum, two red plastic brites, one aluminium container, five tubs, three buckets, two mugs, two small tubs, one gas burner and one gas cylinder were also recovered.
Ahamadi Bibi has been handed over to Thoubal police station along with the recovered items and a case has been registered against her under ND&PS Act, the SP said.
Addl SP (Ops) O wangkhomba, Thoubal CDO Unit OC Sadananda and other police officers were also present at the press meet.
Meanwhile, Bishnupur District Police, acting on a specific information about transportation of banned drug items by some women along the Old Cachar Road toward Jiribam, stationed a frisking team at Laimaton VDF Post along the Old Cachar Road and the team intercepted one Sumo vehicle carrying three women passengers at around 1.30 pm.
On frisking the lady passengers by women police personnel of Bishnupur District in presence of the Bishnupur SDPO, 43 soap cases containing heroin powder were found concealed inside three improvised waist bags, sources informed.
Hence they were arrested on spot and the heroin powder was also seized from their possession by observing necessary formalities.
The 43 soap cases containing heroin weighed 2.238 Kilograms.
The arrested persons have been identified as Zemboi (26) w/o Thangboi Kuki, Kim Mary Kilong (22) w/o Kaigin and Neineng Lengthang (35) w/o Chungkham Lenthang, all from Muktokhal, Tousem, Tamenglong District.
The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of Bishnupur SP N Herojit. The arrested women were later handed over to the Loktak police station for taking up necessary legal action under ND&PS Act.
