Road blocked over death of youth

Local residents of Papal Mayai Leikai on Tuesday formed a JAC after a local youth, Wareppam Premjit (23) son of Abhiram, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on Monday morning.
The local residents also blocked NH102 on Tuesday for a couple of hours at Papal Lamkhai area demanding arrest of the culprits.
Later, the JAC submitted a memorandum demanding swift investigation and arrest of the culprits by June 15 to chief minister N Biren and Wangjing Tentha MLA Paonam Brojen.
They also warned of launching intense agitation if their demands are not met by June 15.JAC convener N Tiken told the media that Premjit's body was found lying by the roadside in an area betweeri Lousipat and Sora under Kakching police station on Monday morning.
He went out of home on Sunday morning to join a two-wheeler workshop located at Samaram Lamkhai.
The JAC is demanding the government to conduct swift investigation and provide adequate compensation to his surviving wife and eight-month-old son, he said and asserted that the JAC will not claim the body until the government arrest the culprits.
He further said that the JAC will launch intense agitation if the government fails to deliver their demands by Wednesday.
