Imphal, June 11 2014:
The Maring Students' Union (MSU) has condemned vandalism of a mob from Kakching at Khangshim and Nungourok villages in Chandel district.
Nungourok Baptist Church, Khangshim Baptist Church, ICDS building, Khangshim Primary School, Morning Dew School and five shops were vandalised by the mob, said a press release.
When Chandel DC was informed about the incident, he said that Khangshim village falls under the jurisdiction of Thoubal district and he has no right to intervene into the matter.
The union questioned the stand of Chandel DC on what ground Khangshim village falls under the jurisdiction of Thoubal district.
Khangshim village was established well before Thoubal district came into existence, the press release said and added that the village is also paying hill house tax to Chandel district.
In this regard, MSU demanded a clarification from Chandel DC.
The union also demanded that action be taken against Kakching SDPO.
If the authority concerned fails to take action against the erring officer and culprits, MSU would take its own course of action and the authority concerned would be responsible for any impending consequences, the press release said.
