Imphal, June 11 2014:
Appreciating the State Government for noticing the public adversities and undertaking the Sanjenthong diversion bridge construction project, Sanjenthong Bridge Diversion Demand Committee (SDBC) has urged the Government to complete the work at the earliest.
The initiative taken up by the Government is worth lauding, said a press release.
However, blocking the road without executing any work is unfair and it has caused a great hindrance to the people and the commuters, added the press release.
It pointed out that most of the development works initiated by the Government has failed to please the the general public due Government's failure to consult experts.
The Committee and the people did not approve the location of the under construction diversion bridge, the press release added.
Recalling the discussion between the Works Minister, Dr Kh Ratankumar and SDBC, the Works Minister cited a security reason and agreed to construct the bridge starting at the back of BOAT and to pass through Babupara.
Dropping the first option, the Government decided on June 19, 2014, to construct the diversion bridge from the southern side of Mahabali which would lead to Hicham Yaichampat.
The Committee questioned the Government and the expert who will take the bridge.
