Imphal, June 11 2014:
Accusing MLA Kh Joykisan of self proclaiming as party president and working against the party even though he was elected on the ticket of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), AITC State unit president Th Shyamkumar has stated that he would write to the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker to disqualify Joykisan from being a Member of the House.
Inaugurating a new office of the party's State unit at Moirangkhom today, Shyamkumar said that self proclaimed president of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress (MPTC) can be pardoned if he tenders an apology for his many anti-party activities and retracts his steps.
If he continues with his wrongful activities, an application would be filed with the Assembly Speaker seeking Joykisan's disqualification.
Reacting to Joykisan's statement that he (Shyamkumar) had been expelled from the party, Shyamkumar maintained that he would not let off any who worked against the party's rules and principles.
MLAs are not necessarily the indispensable element for the survival and growth of any political party.
What is more important is love, respect and dedication for the party.
Structurally, no parties exist under their MLAs.
It is the other way round, he asserted.
The party MLAs casting their votes in favour of candidates of other parties in the recent Lok Sabha elections was obviously a serious anti-party activity.
Splitting from AITC without the party high command's knowledge and setting up a new party was unethical.
Yet, there is no question of dissidence within the AITC State unit.
The State unit still functions under the command of AITC supremo Mamata Banerjee.
Coupled with the opening of a new office today, the party's office bearers and executive committee have been working with a common perspective under a single principle, claimed Shyamkumar.
