PAWF to observe death anniversary of Arambam Samarendra on June 10

Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF), Manipur, Assam and Tripura will organise the death anniversary of Arambam Samarendra on June 10 at 10 AM.
The main programme will be held at Nungshikol Park located at Chana in Lamlai AC.
Only a few members of PAWF led by OC Meira, founder secretary, PAWF will attend the programme and floral tribute will be paid to the statue of Arambam Samarendra installed inside the park while members of PAWF will pay tribute to portrait of Arambam Samarendra at their own residence.
In continuation of the programme, a virtual event hosted by Naoroibam Khamba Luwang, president, PAWF (Manipur); Thounaojam Shyam Singha, president, PAWF (Assam) and Gurumayum Biplab Sharma, president, PAWF (Tripura) will be held wherein a poetry competition will be held as a tribute to the late Arambam Samarendra.
Arambam Samarendra wrote the first Manipuri feature film titled 'Matamgi Manipur' and also contributed much to Shumang Kumhei and theatre.
His collection of drama 'Leipaklei' was honoured with Sahitya Akademi Award in 1995 .
He was born on July 12, 1935 at Sagolband Meino Leirak and passed away on June 10, 2000 while speaking at a programme 'Women's Shumang Leela in Manipur' .
