Fatality, positivity figures rise; test rate drops

After experiencing single digit daily fatality count and daily positivity rate for two days, the state on Monday reported two-digit fatalities and positivity rate as the government bulletins reported 15 death cases and 598 new positive cases out of 4987 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
Daily test capacity also dropped in the last 24 hours after the state witnessed a healthy daily testing rate since May 26 onwards with May 30 marking the first time the state crossed 6000 samples tested.
Meanwhile, the state reported 783 recoveries in the last 24 hours of which 555 were discharged from home isolation, 11 RIMS, 19 from JNIMS and 198 are from other Covid care facilities.
The caseload dropped to 8984, which include 4083 in home isolation and 4901 undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities.
According to official reports, all the 598 new cases (292 male & 306 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (49), JNIMS (32), District Hospitals (289) and other testing centres (228).The positive cases are from Imphal East (117), Imphal West (202), Thoubal (72), Bishnupur (54), Kakching (26), Ukhrul (1), Churachandpur (83), Chandel (6), Senapati (4), Tamenglong (5), Tengnoupal (7), Kangpokpi (1), Kamjong (5), Jiribam (14) and Noney (1) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 15 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.
The casualties were from Imphal West (5), Imphal East (6), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (1) and Churachandpur (1).They succumbed to the infections at RIMS (3), JNIMS (5), Shija Hospitals (4), Raj Medicity (1), DH Churachandpur (1) and Bal Bhavan (1) .
Seven of them were males and eight females.
Seven of the victims did not have any co-morbidities.
One male and two females were below 45 years of age including a 30-year-old woman.
Seven of them died within 24 hours of reaching hospital.
The cumulative number of deaths is 896 .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 55,828 (general population - 52,061 and CAPF personnel - 3,767).Number of recovered cases is 45,948 (general population - 42,191 and CAPF personnel - 3,757) and number of active cases is 8,984 (general population - 8,979 and CAPF personnel - 5) .
The recovery rate is 82.30 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1310 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 462 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
District Hospitals and government institutions have 380 D and 71 B filled cylinders and district/sub-division wise stock position is Bishnupur (73D, 4B), Chandel (32D, 7B), Churachandpur (72D, 0B), Senapati (32D, 0B), Thoubal (39D, 18B), Ukhrul (21D, 0B), Tamenglong (30D, 5B), Jiribam (36D, 10B), Moreh (18D, 5B), Kamjong (3D, 1B), Kangpokpi (3D, 0B), Kakching (13D, 19B), Noney (2D,0B) and Pherzawl (6D, 2B).As of Sunday, 4,23,072 individuals have been vaccinated against the virus with 80,885 fully inoculated.
Meanwhile, 60 new positive cases have been reported in Kakching district on Monday.
Two cases were detected at Ema Hospital, eight at Jivan Hospital and 50 at government RAT Centre.
One of them is from Chandel district and rest from Kakching district, according to district surveillance officer Dr Kesho Singh Moirangthem.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (20,010), Imphal East (12,937), Thoubal (4247), Churachandpur (4161), Kangpokpi (1509), Tamenglong (1889), Bishnupur (3134), Senapati (1263), Ukhrul (1191), Kakching (2401), Chandel (946), Noney (522), Tengnoupal (552), Jiribam (565), Kamjong (424) and Pherzawl (77).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (333), Imphal East (245), Thoubal (81), Churachandpur (67), Kangpokpi (23), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (56), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (12), Kakching (43), Chandel (13), Noney (2), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (2), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 17,992 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 20,806 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,46,704 tests per million population against the national average of 2,63,057 TPM.
Case fatality rate climbed down to 1.60 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 4987 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 11.99 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 7.29 per cent.
