CRPF unit plants 500 tree saplings

Imphal, June 07 2021:
Officers and personnel of 109 Bn CRPF planted 500 saplings around its camp on June 5 in connection with the observance of World Environment Day.
According to a release, battalion commandant Bal Krishna Ram, second in-command Sandeep, deputy commandant Vinod Sawant, assistant commandant Alex Kophom, MO Dr Th Kanta Singh, inspector Oken Singh and troopers of 109 BN participated in the plantation drive.
In his address, commandant Bal Krishna emphasised the need to generate awareness regarding protection and maintenance of healthy and green environment.
While elaborating that trees contribute to the environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate, conserve water and support wildlife, he also called upon the participants to build a strong bond with nature as it would definitely protect us and our kids.
The release informed that tree plantation drive is carried out by 109 Bn every year before the onset of monsoon and this year also it was conducted on the occasion of World Environment Day.
