PCV immunisation prog launched in Noney

The district level launching of Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV), an introduction under Universal Immunisation Programme (UIP) was held at Noney Primary Health Centre on Monday with Noney deputy commissioner Robert Singh Kshetrimayum as the chief guest.
Aimed at reducing the risk from Pneumococcal Pneumonia and other Pneumococcal diseases among the children, the PVC has been added under the UIP by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to administer three doses of the preventive vaccine to every child below one year of age.
Speaking at the launch function, Robert Kshetrimayum, who is also the chairman of District Health Society, expressed confidence that the PVC programme, which will be free of cost, will help healthy upbringing of the children in remote part of the hill districts of Manipur.
While exhorting the healthcare workers to strive for making the parent aware about the new vaccine so that the targeted group of children avail the benefit and help eradicate the life threatening diseases, he also appreciated the dedicated service being rendered by the healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among others, the launch event organised by District Health Society, Noney was also attended by District Leprosy Officer Dr Azin Maringmei, District Malaria Officer Dr Thaimei Gairanlung and District Immunisation Officer Dr Jendum Golmei as well as doctors, nurses, ASHA facilitators and para-medical staff.
