International Labour Day: Role of working class underscored

Churachandpur Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a motivational lecture on the occasion of International Labour Day at Hengkot yesterday.
A press release by the Assam Rifles said that the lecture was organised to spread awareness amongst the youths about various opportunities of employment in the Government and private sector.
The lecture was focused on spreading awareness about the growing unemployment amongst the youth and ways to counter it.
The youth of Hengkot were made aware about the rights of working people and protection from exploitation in work places.

Kangpokpi
The Jwalamukhi Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), felicitated the labour force working in Kangpokpi district on International Labour Day yesterday. On this occasion, befitting acknowledgment was extended to the entire labour force by the Jwalamukhi Battalion.
Company Operating based at Kangchup, Motbung and Kangpokpi reached out and offered essential supplies and refreshments to the labour force.
Major infrastructural development activities are under progress in the district wherein large numbers of casual labourers are working relentlessly around the clock for the timely completion of these projects, said a statement by the Assam Rifles.
The labourers expressed their gratitude to the Jwalamukhi Battalion for recognizing their work.
Senapati
International Labour Day, popularly known as May Day, was observed by Sakhi-One Stop Centre, Senapati yesterday by carrying out a solidarity cleanliness drive around OSC and Mini Secretariat (DC Complex), Senapati.
On the occasion, Th Vanilla Veronica, Centre Administrator of OSC, Senapati recounted the incident of Haymarket Square, Chicago in 1889 (May 1- 4) and the outcome and consequences that followed the incident, said a press note by the Centre.
She further stressed upon the need to be socially conscious by valuing diversity and embracing the truth that every job deserves respect.
Because not only is social consciousness crucial for productivity and development but it helps us find greater meaning and purpose in our life, she added.
Tengnoupal
In continuation with the efforts of Assam Rifles to reach out to the general population, Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) celebrated International Labour Day at Tengnoupal district yesterday.
Labourers at Khudengthabi and Tengnoupal were provided with meals in recognition of their hard work.
Such initiatives go a long way in motivating the labourers who work tirelessly in tough weather conditions to finish the job at hand, added the statement.
