Assam Rifles units, Labour Union observe May Day

Various Units of Assam Rifles and The Valley & Hill Labour Union, Manipur on Monday observed the International Labour Day, popularly known as May Day, at their respective premises.
Under the aegis of IGAR (South), Churachandpur Battalion organised a motivational lecture to commemorate "International Labour Day" at Hengkot on Monday and spread awareness amongst the youth about various opportunities of employment in the government and private sector.
The lecture focused on making the participants aware about the growing unemployment issue and ways to address it.
The youth of Hengkot were made aware about the rights of working people and protection from exploitation in work places.
A total of 20 youths who attended the event as well as and locals expressed gratitude to the security forces for conducting such informative lecture.
Meanwhile, Noney Battalion of Jwalamukhi Sector Assam Rifles of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (East), also observed "International Labour Day" with workers of M/s Gan-pati Construction Company in Noney district.
As part of the programme organised to appreciate the hard work, dedication and efforts of the workers of the Company, which is engaged in widening of NH-37, Noney Battalion felicitated 170 workers and staffers of the Company.
Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under IGAR (South) also observed International Labour Day in Tengnoupal district during which labourers at Khudengthabi and Tengnoupal were served meals in recognition of their hard work.
On the other hand, The Valley & Hill Labour Union, Manipur observed the International Labour Day at Manipur Hindi Parishad Hall, Old Assembly Road, here, on Monday with Manipur Human Rights Commission former chairperson Khaidem Mani as chief guest, Union convenor M Shakhi Devi as functional president and Apex Housing Society's Th Meghachandra and Union president L Bihari as guests of honour.
