Imphal, January 27 2017:
Categorically asserting that the State Government would never bow to the UNC's indefinite economic blockade being imposed at the diktat of NSCN-IM, Congress MLA RK Anand has stated that the State Government may declare the UNC as an unlawful organisation, if necessary.
Speaking to media persons at his Kwakeithel residence today, Anand said that there is a hidden agenda to disintegrate Manipur and integration of Naga inhabited areas in the blockade call.
He asked if there was any reason for the Congress Government mandated by the people of Manipur to bow to the demands of a UG group which represent only one section of the people.
Congress party would never compromise the unity of Manipur and its territorial integrity.
Some Naga MLAs/Ministers left Congress party even though they love the party so much because they were threatened that they would be assassinated in case they refuse to resign from the party, alleged the MLA.
Anand then asked as to why those former Congress MLAs and Ministers were not allowed to join NPF and why no objections were raised when they joined BJP.
Questioning the role of BJP Manipur Pradesh at the current juncture, Anand asserted that BJP, UNC, NSCN-IM and NPF have been working together as their political agenda are more or less similar.
Reacting to Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa's claim that BJP can get the economic blockade lifted if President's Rule is imposed in Manipur just for two days, Anand asked whether the BJP leader's statement implied they would revoke the State Government's notification which created seven new districts in order to get the economic blockade lifted.
BJP should explain the Government of India's silence on repeated incidents of robbery and violence unleashed by NSCN-IM along Imphal-Dimapur highway.
Asking India Government to withdraw from the peace process, Anand said that the State Government would do whatever is required to tackle NSCN-IM's militancy.
The State Government has been restraining itself in view of the peace process between the Government of India and the militant outfit.
The State Government would take up befitting action against NSCN-IM for disturbing law and order and committing all kinds of unlawful activities the day the cease fire signed between the outfit and NSCN-IM ends, Anand said.
The Government of India should never commit the blunder of attempting to upset the unity and integrity of Manipur.
People of Manipur have a nagging suspicion for something unpleasant as the details of the Framework Agreement have not been divulged yet.
If the Framework Agreement does not infringe upon the territorial integrity of Manipur, all its details should be divulged to the people of Manipur otherwise it should be torn into several pieces.
Reacting to news report published in a particular daily which speculated that 11 Congress MLAs were likely to join BJP, Anand refuted the report as baseless and fabricated.
He even mooted legal action against the particular newspaper after studying the norms and regulations laid down by the Election Commission of India (ECI) .
