Three-day training programme begins

Imphal, January 27 2017:
A three-day training programme on, "Promotion of improved technology of pulses production under conservation agriculture in rice fallow system" was inaugurated today at Monglenpai village Churachandpur under the patronize of Dr Narendra Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Imphal and coordinated by Dr MA Ansari, Scientist Agronomy, ICAR Manipur Centre.
The training programme was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Churachandpur, and ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre.
The programme was held under the sponsorship of Tribal Sub Plan (Pulses Programme) .
46 farmers from 7 different villages of Churachandpur district attended the programme.
The training course contain 9 lectures which will be delivered by resource person from KVKs and ICAR Manipur Centre and one field visit.
The inaugural function was presided by Dr Niranjan Lal, Head and Senior Scientist, KVK, Churachandpur.
L Somendro Singh, ACTO (Soil Science), Dr L Babita Devi, ACTO (Animal Science) and Dr S Roma Devi, ACTO (Home Science), KVK, Churachandpur also attended the inaugural programme.
L Somendro Singh ACTO (Soil Science) KVK Churachandpur, in his keynote address, highlighted the need and importance of pulses production in Churachandpur and pulses security for self sustenance.
Dr NiranjanLal, in his speech, emphasised on the role and initiatives taken up by farmers for promotion of pulses production.
The opening programme was followed by a technical session.
Dr Niranjan Lal delivered a lecture on, "Extension strategies for enhancing capacity of farmers to face obstacle in pulses production", while L Somendro Singh spoke about nutrients management in pulses production.
The training programme will continue till January 29 .
