Free non-operative (Device) closure of hole in the heart done at SKY Hospital

Three more children underwent free non-operative (device) closure procedure successfully at SKY Hospital, Imphal West, for closure of hole in the heart.
The operation was sponsored by the State Health Society led by PK Singh, Commissioner (Health & Family Welfare) and Dr O Ibomcha Singh, Mission Director, State Health Society under National Health Mission, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) .
Infrastructure for free device closure of hole in the heart is available at SKY Hospital, RIMS road under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), National Health Mission, State Health Society, Manipur, for children below the age of 18 years who are born with Congenital Heart Disease (Holes and other birth heart defect) .
Attending the a ceremony at the hospital today, PK Singh, chairman, Executive Committee, State Heart Society, lauded the hospital for successfully performing free device closure of hole in the heart on 15 children and free open heart surgery on 25 children with congenital heart defect under National Health Mission, Manipur in less than a year.
The total number of people with congenital heart defects who benefited under RBSK reached 40 in 11 months.
Singh appealed to the parents of children below the age of 18 years with suspected birth heart defect to contact RBSK District Team or District Hospital for treatment.
"Transport of such children with parents from any district to Imphal will be free under RBSK programme", he said.
Dr L Shyamkishore, chairman & chief cardiologist said majority of the patients with hole in the heart will not survive if not diagnosed in early life and treated properly.
Free Echocardiographic Heart Screening Service is provided every Thursday at SKY Hospital, Imphal, referred by the District RBSK Team.
The names of the beneficiaries who underwent non- operative (Device) closure of hole in the heart are U Sana (6) of Khurkhul; Chimlonei Bapui (7) of Laipham Khunou and K Jonathan (3) of Khurai.
