Imphal, January 27 2017: Bishnupur
The 68th Republic Day was celebrated at Loukoipat Parking Ground with the District Commissioner M Harekrishna as the president.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bishnupur Satyam Takhellambam was the parade commander.

Public and various government officials attended the function.

Chandel
Chandel district administration celebrated the 68 th Republic Day at Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School ground, Chandel.

Deputy Commissioner Bobby Waikhom unfurled the National tricolour amidst the National Anthem played by the pipe band party of Assam Rifles.

The DC received salute from the march past contingents of ex-servicemen, civil police, Manipur Rifles, NCC cadets, college and school students, ASHA workers and pipe band party of Assam Rifles.

Assistant Commandant of 8th Battalion Manipur Rifles N Nobin Singh was the parade commander of the celebration.

Speaking at the occasion, Bobby Waikhom urged the people not to forget their fundamental duties as responsible citizens of this great Nation.

In his speech, he also mentioned about various welfare schemes taken up by the Government.

The DC also appealed to Chandel denizens to ethically participate in all the elections and extend co-operation to the district administration in making the ensuing 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election free and fair.

Churachandpur
The 68th Republic Day celebration was held today at Peace Ground, Tuibong with Deputy Commissioner Lunminthang Haokip as the chief guest.

Around 30 march past contingents participated in the parade which was headed by Thanlon SDPO A Jangminthang Khongsai.

Lunminthang Haokip paid homage to the freedom fighters and lauded the people for their co-operation in making the developmental programmes a success.

He further mentioned that the newly created Pherzawl district will be functional soon.

Kakching
The 68th Republic Day was held today at Basic Ground, Kakching with Kakching Deputy Commissioner Th Kirankumar as the chief guest.

The chief guest unfurled and hoisted the National tricolour.

Around 35 contingents participated in the march past including civil police personnel, NCC cadets, ex-servicemen, college and school students.

Prizes were given to the first, second and third position of the contingents.

More than 7000 people attended the function.

Kangpokpi
Newly created Kangpokpi district today joined the rest of the State and country in celebrating the Republic Day.

Hoisting the tri-colour at Brigadier Thomas Ground, Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi district T Ranjit Singh said that he felt elated to address the first ever and 'historic' Republic Day celebration at Kangpokpi after it was granted districthood.

Pointing out that frequent bandhs and blockades have hampered the smooth functioning of the State machinery besides causing miseries to the people, T Ranjit appealed to all the concerned not to resort to violence in pursuance of any grievances.

He added that there is no problem that could not be solved through peaceful dialogue.

He further appealed to all sections of the people to come forward to make newly created district Kangpokpi the most prosperous district while also urging the people to extend maximum cooperation so that all heads of Government Departments and other requisite infrastructure entitled to a full-fledged district are installed in the district without any hindrance.

Saying that his focus as the district administrator, among others, is to make the nine Sub-Divisions of the district functional, the DC further exuded confidence that the district would move in the right direction after the coming of the next Government which is expected by mid-March.

Band display, march past, yoga demonstration by school students, rendition of National Anthem, cultural items presentation by different troupes reflecting the cultural diversity of the district, presentation of red shawl to best performing village chiefs were the highlights of the celebration programme.

Senapati
The 68th Republic Day celebration was held today at Mini Stadium with Deputy Commissioner C Arthur Worchuiyo as the chief guest.

A total of 32 contingents including the CRPF, ITBP, civil police, VDF, NCC, school and college students participated in the parade.

The march past contingents was headed by parade commander Senapati Additional SP Dr Mohit Kumar Garg.

C Arthur recounted the struggle of the founding fathers of democratic and republic country.

He further said that the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has awarded Senapati district as the best district among the North Eastern States in the field of tapping solar energy.

Tamenglong
The district administration celebrated the 68th Republic day at Mini Stadium, Tamenglong Headquarters.

Deputy Commissioner M Luikham unfurled the National flag and took salute from march past contingents which included 5th MR platoon, Tamenglong police, Village Defence Force (VDF), Tamenglong Higher Secondary School, CMEHSS, JNV, Model Village Government School and 5th MR Unit school.

Speaking at the occasion, M Luikham recalled the invaluable contributions and sacrifices of our leaders and freedom fighters and highlighted some of the initiatives and development projects that has been taken up in the district and said that Government projects such as MNERGS, MSDP, IWMP, RIDF and PMAY projects have given employment opportunities to the unemployed and brought about development in the district.

Thoubal
Thoubal district administration has also celebrated the 68th Republic Day at Mini Secretariat Complex.

The tri-colour was unfurled by DC M Joy Singh who also took salute from 37 march past contingents.

Thoubal Deputy SP Yumnam Premjit Singh was the parade commander.

Addressing the gathering, the DC appealed to all to exercise their franchise in the ensuing State Assembly election.

Various performances and distribution of meritorious awards were the highlights of the celebration.

Ukhrul
Ukhrul: Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner Pradip Chandren unfurled the tri-colour National flag at Bakshi Ground, Hungpung Ukhrul during the 68th Republic Day, reports Mungchan Zimik.

Speaking as the chief guest, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the various developmental projects taken up in the district.

He mentioned that more than 7000 voters has been newly enrolled in the district. Over 3400 low-cost toilets have been constructed in the district under Swacchh Bharat Mission.

Ukhrul is noted for cocoon production in the State.

Altogether, 30 contingents took part in the 68th Republic Day parade competition led by parade commander Phungyar SDPO CL Thotreithing.

Enchanting multi-ethnic fusion dance of major Manipur tribes by JNV Lambui students enthralled the gathering.

District Level Officers, ADC Members including Tangkhul frontal organization leaders led by TNL president Weapon Zimik also attended the programme.
