Imphal, October 12 2014:
Council of Teachers' Association (COTA) in association with All Manipur Elementary School Teachers' Association (AMESTA), All Manipur Secondary School Teachers' Association (AMSSTA) and All Manipur Govt Higher secondary Lecturers' Welfare Association (AMGHSLWA) held a public meeting regarding the mass transfer of teachers under AMESTA Zone-II office yesterday.
The mass transfer order was issued by the Directorate of Education (S) on September 6, 2014 as per the Cabinet's decision on re-deployment/re-allocation of post on February 2, 2013 .
Stating that the post allotment as per the State Cabinet's re-allocation/re-deployment decision and the post allotment as per the order by Directorate of Education (S) on September 6 are not commensurate, the Council of Teachers' Association (COTA) has expressed its dissent for the mass transfer order issued by Directorate of Education (S) .
While one teacher is listed to be transfered to another school in the State Cabinet's re-allocation/re-deployment order, the same has been omitted in the mass transfer list prepared by the Education (S) .
Maintaining that the Directorate of Education (S) should abide by the State Cabinet's decision, the council added that the deviation has also caused much inconvenience to the teachers listed in the orders.
COTA has therefore appealed to the department to maintain status quo or keep the matter in abeyance within October 15 failing which, the council, in collaboration with other associations, would resort to rigorous agitations, a statement issued by co-convenor, COTA communicated.
The meeting concluded with the decision to assist the affected teachers in every form of agitations to follow.
