'Cordial ties between hills and valley people should not be only in words'

Saying that maintenance of a cordial relationship between people of hills and valley should not be only in words, ex-Minister RV Minthing has asserted that there will be unity in the State only when people of different communities work collectively irrespective of a community's issue.
The ex-Minister was attending as the chief guest of the 3rd Foundation Day of United All Communities Social Uplifters (UNACSU), Kangleipak held at the auditorium of Adimjati Siksha Ashram here today.
RV Minthing exhorted younger generation to play a pivotal role in maintaining peace and tranquility in the State as voice of youths cannot go unheard.
The State has been witnessing different forms of violence and crime ever since the Meitei Puyas were set on fire but no external forces can pose a threat to the integrity of the State when there is unity, he added.
He noted that the then Chief Minister Yangmasho Sheija had contributed in construction of Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple at Haying Khongbal, 1st MR.Advocate Angomcha Araba who was present as one of the guests of honor stated that there is a need to make younger generation know about leaders of different communities so as to instill them the sense of patriotism shown by the leaders.
As part of the programme, gifts were presented to ten women leaders namely Keisham (o) Taruni Leima, president of All Manipur Social Reformation & Development Samaj (AMSRD); Thockchom (o) Ramani, general secretary of AMSRD; Kanaki Leima, president of Momnu Irikkhombi Lup; Yumlembam (o) Memma, vice-president of Apunba Manipur Kanba Ema Lup (AMKIL); Louremabm (o) Nganbi, vice-president of AMKIL; Phanjoubam (o) Sakhi, president of AMKILL; Longjam (o) Memchoubi, president of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba; Maibam (o) Purnimashi, president of Ching-Tam United Women's Association Kangleipak; Yumnam (o) Leirik Leima, president of president of Kangleipak Lamjinglen Apunba Meira Lup and Soubam (o) Ibetombi of Women Association for Civic Action Kangleipak.
The gifts were presented to the leaders in recognition of their contribution towards bringing peace and harmony in the State.
President of Rongmei Women's Organization (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland), Panti Golmei was also present at the occasion as guest of honor.
