Moreh hosts peace meeting

A crucial meeting between police and representatives of various civil society organisations on res-toration of normalcy and peace was held at the IB conference hall of Moreh police this morning.
Chandel SP N Herojit, 8th Manipur Rifles Commandant M Rajen, Moreh ASP M Mubi, Moreh SDPO Kh Dilipkumar, Moreh police station OC Kh Dilipkumar and representatives from Hill Tribal Council (HTC), Meetei Council Moreh (MCM), ACODOM, Tamil Sangam, Gorkha Samaj, KSO Moreh, AMSU Moreh and Meira Paibi leaders attended the meeting.
N Herojit said that there is need to maintain peace and tranquillity in Moreh as the Government of India has projected the border town as a major gateway for the country's Act East Policy.

Urging the public not to damage Government properties during any agitation, the SP said that every standoff can be resolved through peaceful talks.
M Mubi observed that only peace can bring development in Moreh.
He also urged all concerned to maintain a good rapport between police and public.
Saying that he would put in best effort to maintain peace at Moreh, the police officer also urged the public not to impose unannounced bandhs or blockades in pursuit of any demand.
He also urged the people of Moreh to come at his office anytime if they have any grievance.
In August this year, curfew was imposed by the district administration after a clash erupted at Moreh between pro-ILPS and anti-ILPS groups.
