Security deployment for polls detailed

Imphal, February 04 2022:
In view of the ensuing Assembly election, a press briefing on security coordination of the State police and Central Para-Military Forces was held today at the courtroom of the District Election Officer/DC, Imphal West.
Speaking to the media persons, Imphal West Superintendent of Police Ksh Shivakanta stated that altogether 62 paramilitary companies from outside the State will be utilized in Imphal West for the upcoming State Assembly election, which is scheduled to be held on February 27 .
He further said that CRPF will not only assist the State force in maintaining law and order during the polling process, but also provide logistic support to the State force.
Shivakanta also highlighted that altogether 2926 firearms have been deposited so far in the district, which stands at 76.95 percent (approx) of total licensed firearms in the district.
The SP also shared two dedicated Police Control Room phone numbers through which anyone could report directly to the district police.
The dedicated phone numbers are 6009030422 and 0385-2450214 .
Briefing the press, District Election Officer/DC, Imphal West Th Kirankumar stated that Imphal West district has a total of 530 polling stations, out of which 16 have been identified as critical and 256 as vulnerable.
He also stated that the district administration will utilize around 2600 polling personnel to man the 530 polling stations in the district of which 4 personnel each will be stationed at every polling station.
There will be some reserved personnel as well to utilize as and when required, he added.
The SP continued that 2 unarmed women police personnel will also be stationed outside every polling station to assist women and aged voters.
The DEO further informed that around 900 vehicles including buses will be utilized in the district.
Attending the press briefing, Commandant of 86-Bn, CRPF, Mohd Yusuf stated that all possible support will be extended to the State police.
