Former MPYCC VP to contest election

A young new face will be in the fray for the seat of 50-Kangpokpi AC in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election as former Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) vice president and general secretary of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi district Thangminlen Kipgen officially declared to contest the upcoming election on Friday.
Official declaration of his candidacy was rnade at his Vengthah Ward No 3 residence during a simple function.
41-year-old Thangminlen Kipgen hails from Tujang Vaichong village in Kangpokpi district and he is the eldest son of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (Kangpokpi) member Lhunkhohen Kipgen.
Thangminlen Kipgen had also seVved as chairman and advisor of the Joint Monitoring Development Committee, IT Road (A Kuki-Naga-Nepali Joint Organization) in Twilang area.
Thangminlen Kipgen had done M Phil from JNU Delhi after passing his matriculation and BSc Biotechnology and M Sc Biotechnology in Tezpur.
After Thangminlen was officially declared as an independent candidate by his chief agent Mang Chongloi, Rev K Hangshing of Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship chairman invoked blessing prayer.
Addressing the gathering, Thangminlen Kipgen, who is popularly known as the Alfred of Kangpokpi' for his boldness and wisdom, said that everyone wants changes and development but it is not happening in Kangpokpi.
He maintained that it is not the highway that Kangpokpi people should highlight their grievances but people did it on compulsion as they do not have the right representative who could raise their grievances at the right platform, assembly.
Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District, Kuki Women Union Kangpokpi, KSO Sadar Hills, TSA Sadar Hills leaders also attended the declaration of Thangminlen Kipgen as an independent candidate.
