Mao, adjoining areas experience snow fall

With cold weather conditions prevailing in the district for the last couple of days, mountain ranges of Mao and adjoining areas witnessed first snow fall on Wednesday.
Villagers of Mao reported that many youths from the adjoining Mao villages visited the base camp situated at Mt Isii, one of the highest peaks of the state, and saw the snow-clad mountain range.
On the other hand, Liyai Khullen, a border village, also witnessed similar snow fall on W dnesday.
According to Liyai villagers, the area experiences such snow fall every year, but the quantity was much heavier this year.
Chief minister N Biren Singh also shared some photos of snow falling in the area.
A video clip from Liyai villagers playing in the snow went viral on social media.
Manipur had recorded a minimum temperature dipping to 2.93 degree Celsius on Wednesday as per daily weather report issued by the Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Manipur.
The state continues to reel under cold wave till the time of filing this report.
