Religious leaders assure to aid vaccination drive

Governor La Ganesan convened a meeting of leaders of Sikh, Jain, Buddhist communities as well as ISKCON and Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board on Friday at Raj Bhavan pertaining to COVID-19 vaccination.
The Governor expressed happiness over presence of leaders of different religious groups as well as officials of Health Department in the meeting.
During the interaction, all the leaders expressed willingness to extend cooperation at the best level while Governor informed them about the dreaded disease and how to prevent it and save lives from the dreaded disease.
Iterating that the best way to fight the contagion is vaccination, La Ganesan made an appeal to all to extend their invaluable cooperation to make the mission a success.
He also acknowledged the contributions made by Front line workers, Doctors, Civil Society Organisations and relentless efforts made by the Government to overcome the pandemic.
The dedication for the people of the country will always be remembered by all irrespective of caste, religion and creed, he said.
On Thursday, Ganesan visited the Covid-19 Vaccination Centre at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, RIMS, Lamphelpat and he inspected the Covid Vaccination Centre.
As part of the visit, he also distributed Covid Vaccination certificates, peps and badges to those fully jabbed with second vaccination doses and immunity doses belonging to different age groups and professions.
Governor Ganesan also interacted with the doctors, nurses, frontline workers and other related officials of RIMS and Health Department, Manipur.
He discussed matters relating to vaccination status of the state with the Covid-19 Vaccination team of RIMS.
He also presented gifts to medical staffs who are stationed at the centre.
Speaking to media, La Ganesan opined that Manipur can set the record of 100 per cent vaccination though the rate of vaccination in rural and hilly areas is still lagging behind.
State needs to gear up vaccination works with more efforts particularly in hill and rural areas, he stressed and expressed satisfaction over healthy rate of vaccination in the younger age group.
RIMS director Prof A Santa Singh, RIMS MS Dr Nepram Sanjit, NHM Manipur director Dr Shyamjai, doctors and other officials were also present during the visit.
