Women teams to man five polling stations in Jiribam AC

Jiribam District Election Officer (DEO) has issued notification for the forthcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election for Jiribam assembly constituency which will go to the polls in the second phase on March 3.Speaking to mediapersons at the DC's office conference hall here on Friday, DEO W Malemnganba Chenglei informed that there are 40 polling stations in Jiribam constituency, of which 13 polling stations are in urban area and the remaining 40 in rural pockets.
Five polling stations will be manned exclusively by women polling personnel, he informed and elaborated that the filing of nomination will be entertained till February 11 followed by scrutiny of the nomination papers on February 14 and withdrawal of candidature within February 16.Stating that two polling stations have been identified as critical and 10 as vulnerable, he informed that as per the latest electoral roll, the total number of voters in the constituency is 29,044, including 14,156 female voters.
There are 173 differently abled voters and 387 others who are above 80 years of age.
Forms have already been provided to respective BLOs so that the aforementioned voters could cast their votes through postal ballot, Malemnganba said.
While informing that all the licensed arms issued in the district have been collected and deposited in the nearest police station, he nevertheless appealed to the people to help in making the election a free and fair exercise.
The press conference was also attended by RO, District Information Officer and police officers.
