NPP candidate Kh Jiban calls for peaceful election; condemns act of violence

National People's Party candidate from Wangkhem AC Kharibam Jiban has urged the political candidates of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency to contest in the ensuing 12th Legislative Assembly election in a fair and peaceful manner and allow the electors of the AC to cast their votes on the candidates of their choice.
Violence can never bring any positive results in the long run, he opined.
The above statement was made by Kharibam Jiban in a press conference held at his residence in Charangpat.
Speaking to media persons, Kharibam Jiban denounced the incident on Thursday at Phoudel Mayai Leikai under Wangkhem AC' wherein supporters of BJP candidate Yumnam Nabachandra allegedly committed acts of violence by brandishing their guns.

Accusing the BJP candidate of propagating gun culture, he further added that incidents of this sort curtails the right of the residents to vote for the candidate of their choice.
He further accused the BJP candidate of resorting to muscle power to win votes.
Strongly condemning this incident, Kharibam Jiban urged the candidates of Wangkhem AC to conduct this electoral process peacefully.
"NPP stands against the use of violence" he stated and added that the party only wishes to be victorious in elections only because they are the people's choice and not through any underhanded means.
Further, he informed that due to this incident the BJP candidate had been banned by the respective Club from entering the locality.
However, Yumnam Nabachandra will be free to enter Charangpat, he added and continued to say that elections ought to be contested in a democratic manner without any use of violence, threats or propagation of gun culture.
Touching upon the topic of development of Wangkhem AC, he shared that his main priorities lie in improving education, agriculture, providing means of employment for the youth and so on.
"Lastly, he urged the people to vote for NPP to usher in an era of change and progress across Wangkhem AC.
