Edu fair begins

A two-day education fair christened "Futurescape" was opened today at Hotel Classic.
Altogether 11 stalls belonging to different universities, technical and professional institutions and vocational centres are opened at the fair.
Representatives of different educational institutions are taking part in the fair.
The institutions include Savera Group of Institutions and Savera College of Architecture, Gurgaon; Symbiosis College of Nursing, Pune; Shobhit University, Meerut; IIMT Meerut; Sobhasaria Engineering College, Sikhar, Rajasthan; Aakash Institute, New Delhi; Institute of Hotel Management, Meerut; Institute of Advance Management, Meerut; Institute of Advance Management and Research, Ghaziabad; APG Shimla University and Institute of Apparel Management, Gurgaon.
Representatives of the North American Manipuri Association are also taking part in the fair which is being organised by the Fluorescence Communications.
The fair was opened with presentation of an Apple Ipod and cash incentive of Rs 21,000 to CBSE topper Md Ismat.
Athokpam Langlen, Laishram Kiyamba and L Tipunichachei, toppers in Science stream, Arts Stream and Commerce stream respectively of the HSE exam conducted by COHSEM were also rewarded with Rs 10,000 each.
Likewise, HSLC 2012 topper Chandam Achouba and Moirangthem Sapana who came in Second Division besides securing letter mark in Mathematics were also feted with Rs 10,000 each.
Speaking as guest of honour at the opening function, Chairman of the Savera Group of Institutions and Savera College of Architecture Dr Ishpal Bhardwaj announced that Moirangthem Sapana would be allowed to pursue higher education in any course of her choice free of cost.
He further declared that Manipuri students would be given 50 per cent discount on the educational fees if they want to study in any of the Savera Group of Institutions.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Manipur University Vice Chancellor HNK Sharma conveyed his desire to organise similar educational fairs at many colleges and universities.
In his presidential speech, AMWJU president A Mubi observed that careers of many talented students were maligned or thrown off gear because they did not receive proper guidance at the right time.
Such educational fairs would certainly benefit many students of the State, he added.
