Imphal, June 02 2012:
Ex-MLA O Joy has expressed amazement over the indifferent attitude of BJP which has been trying to expand its horizon with recruitment of more members from its own allies.
Addressing media persons at MPP office here today, O Joy said that BJP is an ally of MPP and NCP, which joined hands together to uproot the Congress in Manipur.
However, disregarding all friendly relations with MPP, BJP is trying to extract members from its own allies.
Charging BJP with trying to disintegrate MPP, O Joy asserted that BJP came to Manipur in the role of 'RAM' but it has turned into 'RAVANA' .
This is a clear case of big political parties trying to swallow up the smaller parties, he added.
O Joy pointed out that MPP came up as a regional party after Manipur was emerged with Indian Union and when the people of Manipur revolted against the state government in protest against hike in price of rice in the state in 1965 .
During the 65 years of Indian Independence, the people of North East have been facing various problems with regard to regional imbalances, political domination and economic exploitation meted out by mainland India.
Over and above this, there have been political conflicts resulting in identity crisis in the region.
So, in order to combat all these, MPP has been always on the alert, he said.
