Imphal, June 02 2012:
After some students who were seeking admission in TG Hr Sec School were spurned by the Principal asking the students to bring written recommendation from the Education Minister if they want admission, Education Minister M Oken has taken up necessary measures to allow admission of all the students.
Talking with The Sangai Express in his office today, Oken said that around 1473 students applied for admission in Class XI at TG Hr Sec School against the school's intake capacity of 206 .
When some students who did not get admission approached the school Principal, the Principal asked the students to bring written recommendation from the Education Minister.
"At this, some parents came to me seeking my recommendation.
But how many students can be admitted in TG Hr School at my recommendation?" asked M Oken.
Noting that it is a shameful experience for the Government to deny admission to students when it has been advocating admission in Government schools, M Oken conveyed that he visited TG Hr Sec School, CC Hr Sec School and Johnstone Hr Sec School today.
"But I found TG School in pathetic condition with leaky roofs and the computer sets all covered with dust.
Later in the afternoon while talking with this reporter, the Education Minister summoned the contractor who has been constructing the new school building and issued a strong instruction to complete the construction work at the earliest.
He also assured that there would be no dearth of fund.
The Education Minister also called the Principal of TG Hr Sec School to his room and asked the Principal to accommodate all the students who come for admission.
Enquiring about the possible problems that may be faced by the school because of admitting extra students, Oken assured that additional teachers would be posted in the School, if required.
If the need arises, new rooms as well as furniture would be arranged, the Minister assured the Principal.
He also promised that students who come for admission in CC Hr Sec School and Johnstone Hr Sec School would also be given their seats.
Informing that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh himself has congratulated CBSE Class XII (all India) topper Md Ismat, the Education Minister pledged that he would certainly bring certain changes to the education sector of Manipur.
