Imphal, June 02 2012:
Decrying alleged inordinate delay in giving them appointment letters, the newly recruited Primary and Upper Primary teacher who number 2623 have threatened to launch stir of all sorts.
Speaking to media persons at MDU Hall here today, vice-president of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Selected Teachers' Association Md Ali reminded that selection order pertaining to recruitment of 2623 Primary and Upper Primary teachers under SSA issued on March 1 this year.
Even though it is now nearly three months since the order was issued, appointment letters have not been given to the selected teachers till date.
The association has submitted many complaints and appeals to the Chief Minister, the Education Minister, the Principal Secretary and other relevant authorities in this regard but nothing positive has been forthcoming.
In case the selected teachers are not given their appointment letters by June 10, the association would be constrained to launch all kinds of agitation, Md Ali said.
The association, after holding a meeting today, has adopted a decision towards this end.
On account of an interim order issued by the Gauhati High Court, the appointment letters are being put on hold, he said.
Even as the writ petition case was scheduled to be heard on May 21, 25 and 28, the hearing was deferred successively on the pretext that the double bench was not present in full strength.
The selected teachers can no longer wait for the Court's decision, Ali added.
