All students to be allowed admission in three Government schools
Hostels, electricity, training on life skills on the card

Along with taking a decision to admit all the students applying for admission in the three Government schools, namely TG Higher Secondary School, Johnstone Higher Secondary School and CC Higher Secondary School, Education Minister M Okendro has advised the officials and principals concerned to take up necessary action in this regard.
Announcing this in a statement, Minister Okendro noted that a large number of students from all the districts of the State are applying for admission into class XI in the three premiere Government Higher Secondary Schools, namely TG Higher Secondary School, Johnstone Higher Secondary School and CC Higher Secondary School located at the State capital city Imphal for the academic session 2012-13.However, the present intake capacity is found to be too low to accommodate all the students coming to seek admission in these three higher secondary schools.
After the matter was brought to his notice on June 1, the Education Minister instantly informed the Principal Secretary in charge of Education (S) to arrange a meeting with the principals of the three schools the following day.
Accordingly, the Minister chaired the meeting today at 11 am.
Just after the meeting, the Minister went along with Principal Secretary in-charge of Education (S), Director of Education(S), Chief Engineer of Engineering Wing of Education Department and principals of the three schools to inspect the schools and take stock of the existing infrastructures.
On the spot, the Minister also discussed the issues arising out of the demand for admission in Government schools.
Accordingly, the Minister took the decision of admitting all the students applying for admission in the three Government higher secondary schools and advised the officers and principals concerned to take up necessary actions in this regard, the statement said.
The statement explained that necessary infrastructure and equipment including class rooms, computers, libraries, proper campuses, etc and also sufficient teaching staffs required for accommodation of all desirous students have to be provided under a special arrangement.
The Minister also noted that it is obligatory for the government to provide facilities for admission of students in the government schools, particularly, for those belonging to poor families.
The meritorious students will be taken due care of for their outstanding performance and it is also to be ensured that all students receive proper education in the three Government higher secondary schools with nominal expenditure on the part of students' parents.
Further, necessary hostels for students, both boys and girls; pre-paid electricity connection, renewable energy like solar power, vocation training on several professions including information technology, co-curricular activities instilling life skills in the young minds, etc, figure on the future road map of these schools with a view to meeting educational demands of students and parents, the Minister disclosed in his statement.
