Where were Sangh leaders during freedom struggle : MPCC

Imphal, September 19 2022: The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has categorically stated that Sangh leaders not only stayed away from the freedom struggle of the country but also opposed the movement.

Reacting to Chief Minister N Biren's claim that Congress fragmented the country while BJP unified it, MPCC vice-president and spokesman Hareshwar Goswami contended that it is BJP which has been working to divide the country.

Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan here today, Hareshwar Goswami said that every one is aware of the roles and contributions made by the Indian National Congress in unifying the country.

AICC leader Rahul Gandhi's rally from Kanyakumari to Kashmir is aimed at saving the country in the face of blatant violation of democratic principles, curtailment of freedom of speech, eradication of secularism and promotion of sectarianism based on religion and faith by the BJP Government, he said.

Questioning if there was any contribution of BJP leaders like Deendayal Upadhyaya and Syama Prasad Mukherjee to the country's freedom struggle, Hareshwar maintained that all the BJP leaders not only stayed from the freedom struggle but also opposed the movement and conspired to fragment the country.

Stating that it is essential for the present generation of BJP leaders to identify those men who conspired to divide India, the MPCC vice-president said that one should not forget that the Hindu Mahashaba once declared the Indian Independence Day as Black Day.

BJP leaders of both the Centre and the State must not overlook Congress party's Non Cooperation Movement and its efforts to prevent bifurcation of Bengal.

Further reacting to Chief Minister N Biren's claim that Manipur and the North East region would have been comparable with Delhi in terms of development had BJP taken its roots in the region a little earlier, the Congress spokesman pointed out that both RSS and BJP were there in Manipur since a long time back.

He then asked if they had done anything significant for the State.
