Losii Dikho flags off 'Open Marathon Run 2021' at Maram

Senapati, December 04 2021: PHE Minister Losii Dikho on Saturday flagged off the Open Marathon Run, 2021 at Raisung Ground, Maram bazaar.

The 22 Km run along NH-2 from Maram bazaar to Mini stadium, Senapati was organised by Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM) under the theme, "Catch the Rain" .

The event was sponsored by PHED Government of Manipur under the banner, "Get jab, Rid Covid" .

During a short gathering at Raisung Ground, Maram, Dr Ngouniba Peter, District Immunization Officer, Senapati appealed to the participants of the marathon to be the messenger and spread awareness on Covid vaccination.

L Dikho lauded the organising committee for their efforts in organising the event.

While stressing on the importance of sports the Minister urged the athletes present including those from the neighbouring states of Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, etc to promote sports and friendship in the country.

L Dikho mentioned that the event was sponsored by the PHE department to spread awareness on the importance of water conservation.

Secretary, Games & Sports of SDOAM highlighted the rules and regulations to be followed by the athletes.

About 400 athletes took part in the Open Marathon Run including representatives from Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland and Mizoram.

The winners of the marathon in order of merit are as follows-
Male category: LR Luther from Khamsom village, Senapati district (1:16:57), H Nagopulou of Liyai village, Senapati district (1:20:06) and A Marikho of Chowainamei Khunou village, Senapati district (1:26:54). Female category: K Tsiiveine of Liyai village, Senapati district (1:55:44), Milinhungle from Newme Hangrum village, Haflong, Assam, (1:56:10) and Heluhing Chule Catherine of Bakie village, Senapati district (1:56:20) .
