Seminar on History of Manipur underway

A two-day State level seminar on 'History of Manipur' (Meidingyu Kyamba to Bhagyachandra) organised by Oriental College under the sponsorship of Department of Art and Culture commenced from today at Oriental College with Works and Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh gracing the inauguration programme as the chief guest.
Expressing confidence that deliberations by subject experts and scholars at the seminar would be able to throw more light on the history of Manipur and enable the common citizens have in-depth knowledge about administrative set-up and system prevalent during the reign of kings, Dr Ratankumar stressed on the need for organising such seminar on a regular basis.
He also urged scholars for extensive research works to unravel historical facts of Manipur so that their work form the basis for future references.
As a guest of honour, Director (Art & Culture) Dr K Sobita Devi opined that the seminar would be more meaningful if resource persons could clear certain points of ambiguity regarding history of Manipur.
She also expressed that regular interaction amongst history scholars would be able to establish the entire truth about history of Manipur.
While Manipur Historical Society president S Bhaigya Singh presided over the inaugural ceremony, as resource persons Naoroibam Indramani spoke on 'Manipurda Bishnu Purakpa amasung Lamangdongda Bishnu Phura' and Mutua Museum director Mutua Bahadur on 'Meetei/Meiteigee Phije-Leiteng' .
