All the money used in buying the raw materials was spent from the pockets of the jail authority, including him, he added.
Most of the items are bamboo made stools and plastic bags and the making started two weeks before, he said, adding they have manufactured the quality items in a short span of time.
Muivah also said the proficiency they have possessed in the field will become an easy earning way for them when they are freed from the prison.
He said now the term jail is no longer used in other countries except India and it has been changed as either prison or correction centre providing different types of advantages to the inmates for rectification.
One of the prisoners said they are indeed thankful to the police officer and authority of the jail who have contributed their own pocket money and idea to open the handicraft items manufacturing unit and at the same time they have created a work culture inside the jail.
He said if Manipur Government keeps attention on this earning of the prisoners will be enhanced.
