Imphal, October 22 2013:
All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has urged the State Government to follow what UPSC does in the selection of candidates in its preliminary Civil Services Examination recently conducted by Manipur Public Service Commission under Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms.
Addressing media persons at its headquarters located at DM College campus here today, HRD Secretary of AMSU, Manjit Sarangthem stated that the decision to select only five times the total vacant posts in the preliminary examination is not complying with the norms of UPSC.
By following the UPSC Guideline, States form their norms for civil service examinations, he added citing the example of Maharashtra that the State is preparing to select 4500 candidates for the main exam which is 12 times the vacant posts.
He continued, it is unfortunate that only 5 times the vacant posts is to be allotted in the recently conducted preliminary exam of MPSC which was appeared by huge number of candidates and has no negative marking system.
Like UPSC, the candidates to be selected for the main examination should be 1:12 or 1:13 instead of the 1:5, he urged and said, AMSU has submitted a representation regarding the matter to the Chief Minister, Education Minister and Chairman MPSC yesterday.
