Imphal, October 22 2013:
As a follow up to the demands made regarding police district boundary jurisdiction and the 48-hour bandh called for the same from October 14 midnight in Senapati district, the Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai (KISG) and Saikul Area Naga Peoples' Organisation (SANPO) have resolved to take up more stringent agitations if their demands are not met.
The demands of the KISG and SANPO have been made through a memorandum submitted on September 25 for the immediate cancellation of Home department's notofication of June 14, 2011, and to withdraw all the villages of Saikul sub-division included in the police stations of Imphal East district regarding the Police district boundaries and police stations under the jurisdiction of Saikul Sub-Division, Senapati district.
The two organizations said that a joint meeting will be taken up with Senapati MLAs, ADC members, public leaders and tribal social organisations after the Kut and Diwali festivals to discuss how to proceed to get the demands.
The union said that it is very unfortunate of the government to disrupt the boundaries by not maintaining the law and order.
They also urged the Hill Area Committee (HAC) to start taking action to maintain the hill regions from destruction as they are the ones to protect their area instead of remaining silent spectators.
The union thanked the supporting the leaders and public who have supported the 48-hour Senapati bandh and also asked them to give more support in the future if the need arise.
