Kanggui, October 22 2013:
Strongly reacting against the news report of Superintendent of Police Senapati District regarding the alleged stolen tyres and recovery of the same at Taphou Kuki in some local dailies on Oct 20 under different captions, Taphou Kuki Village Authority today clarified that the alleged stolen tyres was the handiworks of some unidentified armed underground outfits and not that of mere criminal as stated by the SP, Senapati District.
While making clear that the villagers of Taphou Kuki are very much innocent, Lenkhomang, Chief of Taphou Kuki said that none of the villagers are involved in stealing the tyres.
It is very unfortunate that the Superintendent of Police Senapati had dubbed the culprits involved in the incident as mere criminals while he may be very much aware of the culprits behind the alleged crime, he said while adding that the village authority along with the villagers rendered their fullest cooperation during the search operation to the police team.
Strongly refuting the report of SP Senapati who dubbed the culprits as mere criminals, Lenkhomang asserted that referring or dubbing the culprits as mere criminals indirectly alleged the innocent villagers to be involved in the crime.
While appealing to all armed underground organisations not to commit any crime and activities which can greatly hamper the image of the decency and innocence of the village, Lenkhomang also urged the SP Senapati to acknowledge the innocence of the villagers as well as the decency of the village keeping in mind the cooperation of Taphou Kuki village towards the law enforcement authority in bringing peaceful and sound environment in the area.
