Aimed at boosting morale of those students who failed to cross the class X and XII examination hurdles, World Fund for Youth (WFY) Imphal office said it would extend financial assistance to encourage the said students put more labour on their studies.
WFY Imphal Office director K Kanarjit Singh told media persons at its Soibam Leikai Ayangpali road office today that cash incentive of Rs 3000 each would be handed over to unsuccessful candidates of the class X and XII examinations, based on submission of mark-sheets and contact numbers within June 16.The cash incentive presentation programme would be held on June 22 but details of recipients would be kept confidential, said the director who informed that similar initiative, including coaching programme by WFY last year helped 17 unsuccessful students cross the exam hurdles this year.
Expressing that contribution from every section of the society is of utmost importance to ensure that the unsuccessful candidates do not lose hope and give up their academic pursuit, Kanarjit prevailed upon all concern to discard the concept that only successful candidates deserve accolades and that failed students should be treated with contempt.
He also listed lack of motivation, bad choice of companion(s), teachers' incompatibility, inadequate consultation, irregular attendance, parents' negligence, financial constraints, etc., as some factors that hamper a student's pursuit for
academic excellence.
