The tussle for leadership in the State unit of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is becoming more pronounced with each passing day.
A day after party MLA from Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency Kh Joykishan's name was declared as the new president of the party, Kim Gangte today rubbished media reports which say that she voluntarily resigned from the post of party chief in the State in favour of party MLA Joykishan and asserted categorically that she is still and will remains the party president.
Manipur unit of AITC has remained for quite sometime a battleground for leadership within its organisation with two party legislators namely Kh Joykishan and Th Shyamkumar trying to claim the post.
Kim assertion before the media today has has given yet another twist and dimension to this ongoing leadership crisis in AITC Manipur unit, which has seven MLAs in the current Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Addressing media at Manipur Press Club here, Kim pointed out that she was directly appointed by the party high command Mamata Banerjee and if at all she is to resign or expel, it should be done by the 'high command' .
She made it clear that she has not resigned from the post of pressident of the State Unit AITC and said, "Why should I quit the post?" .
She dubbed the announcement on election of Joykishan as the new MPTC president as anti-party decision, which deserved to be condemned and said that action will be taken against them after consulting with the party's high command.
Kim informed that the matter has been brought before AITC chief Mamta Banerjee, and she has been summoned by the party supremo to discuss the issue.
Describing the crisis in the party as very unfortunate, Kim went on to assert that for all these years, she has been working hard and the party now has 7 MLAs.
But some vested interested people are creating problem in the party.
Kim disclosed that party MLAs telephoned her about the meeting yesterday.
"But such an important matter should not be just conveyed over the phone," she said, while denying that she had sent a resignation letter to the party 'high command' .
"I have no knowledge about it," she added.
