Imphal, July 09 2009:
Casting a slur on the mode of selection of teachers, for undergoing the 10 months Regional Language Training Programme to be held at Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mansangotri, Mysore for the 2009-10 term, the proscribed KCP (MC) today asserted that there is ground to suspect the selection process of the 35 teachers named to undergo the training programme.
In a statement issued by the army chief of the outfit, A Yoiheiba Luwang today, the outfit claimed that the discrepancies were detected by a team of Operation of Eagle.
Explaining the details of the selection mode of the teachers, the outfit said that though the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, had given March 31, 2009 as the last date, the advertisement for undergoing the training was issued on April 1, 2009, in one local daily.
Why this was so, should be explained to the people by the Directorate of Education (S), it added.
A number of officials and others had also indulged in corruption in the selection process of the teacher, alleged the outfit.
Giving details about the training programme, KCP (MC) said that it is to be conducted under funding from the Union Ministry of Human Resources Department.
A total of 561 teachers under seven regional centres were to be selected for the training programme, said the outfit and listed them as Southern Regional Language Centre, Mansangotri, Mysore; Eastern Regional Language Centre, Laxminagar, Bhubaneshwar; Northern Regional Language Centre, Punjabi University campus, Patiala; Western Regional Language Centre, Deccan College campus, Pune; Urdu Teaching and Research Saproon, Solan; Urdu Teaching and Research Centre 10-A, Madan Mohan Malaviya Marg, Lucknow; North Eastern Regional Language Centre, Guwahati.
As per the norms of the Government of India, 50 percent of the teachers should be from Govt/Govt aided/Govt recognised High School (Class VI to X) with the teachers having a minimum experience of three years, 20 percent for research students/scholars pursuing PhD degree, 10 percent for minority language speaker and 20 percent as open category, said the outfit.
The statement then questioned under what norms, the State Education Directorate (S) had selected the teachers for the said training programme.
