In a reply to independent MLA, K Wungnaosing Keishing from Ukhrul district of Manipur Thursday expressed raised the issued of works taken up by the government for the rehabilitation for the suffering people in massive fire burnt incident in March this year which totally destroyed Wino Bazar of Ukhrul.
While blaming government delay in taking up rehabilitation works, he insisted the government to table a detail of the loss of properties in the massive fire burnt incident and relief aids provided to the suffering people.
In reply to the question, chief minister, O Ibobi Singh said that government has provided relief materials amounting to Rs 6.51 lakh to the people whose properties destroyed in the fire burnt incident.
He said government has extended all possible by opening to two relief camps and provided 250 blankets, 150 quintals of rice, 3000 litre of kerosene oil, 200 kgs of dal, 50 packed of salt and 100 of edible oil to the people who lost their dwelling houses and shops in the incident.
He also informed the house that in the fire burnt incident 21 pucca structures, 12 strutures partially pucca and 39 wooden shops were razed to ground in the fire burnt incident.
Government is planning to rehabilitate them but a special package apart from wiping loans taken by them even though government has no particular policy for resettlement of such major fire burnt victims.
But it has not start implementation as assurance policies of the shops owners are yet to made clear.
