The ban imposed on the expansion work of Imphal-Kohima highway along the stretch from Changoubung to Mayangkhang Khunou (Package 4A) has been suspended.
The step was taken in an emergency joint meeting of the affected land owners along the stretch at M Ningthoupham Village Authority conference hall today.
The Joint Action Committee of the affected land owners along the stretch had banned all construction works on NH-2 (Package 4A) from April 5 for not taking up arbitration process on time.
Democratic form of agitation was carried out by the affected land owners at Changoubung on Wednesday in protest against prolonged delay of the arbitration process.
In the wake of having received a notice on April 6 to take up arbitration process as well as a request from the Kangpokpi district administration, convenor of the JAC, BK John, in a press communiqu stated that the ongoing agitation of banning the road expansion along the stretch has been suspended with immediate effect.
However, the emergency meeting also unanimously resolved to resume the democratic agitation if the arbitration process is not concluded within the stipulated time with a decision to compensate the affected land owners adequately, BK John added.
