Training prog on paper bag making conducted

Nongchup Imphal Palem Ima Apunba Lup (NIMPAL) on Friday organised a one-day training programme on paper bag making for its members at Langthabal and Yurembam branches.
The training was conducted under the supervision of Manipur Indigenous Entrepreneurship Development Association secretary general A Ashinikanta and L Malemsana.
Addressing the trainees, Ashinikanta pointed out the direct and indirect harmful impact of plastic on all forms of lives be it on land, water or air.

As plastic items are non-biodegradable, plastic pollution can affect the water table, Ashinikanta said, adding that many animals perished after swallowing discarded plastics.
While urging the government to accord top priority in checking plastic pollution, he also pitched for vigorous promotion of paper bags as an alternative to plastic bags so as reduce pollution and generate job opportunities in the state.
