Imphal, April 07 2023:
The armed Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) has clarified that it has no connection whatsoever with the mother-daughter duo arrested by a combined team ofspecial commando, Imphal East, Imphal West and Ukhrul district police from Yaingangpokpi Awang Leikai on April 6 at about 6.30 am.
MNPF publicity secretary Thomas Numai said in a statement that Jorah Jajo (42) and Leisa Jajo (22), daughter of Ruichumhao of Nongdam Tangkhul but presently residing at Yaingangpokpi Awang Leikai, who were arrested by the combined police team, are not related with MNPF in any manner.
The arrest of Jorah Jajo and Leisa Jajo by linking them to bomb blast in Ukhrul town on April 3 and accusing them of transporting weapons for MNPF testify lack of professionalism of Manipur police commando in investigating the case as well as an attempt malign MNPF's image.
The statement further said arrested Jorah Jajo had been selling cooked meat at Yaingangpokpi bazar as a source of sustenance while her daughter Leisa is pursuing graduation at Birmangol College and helping local young students by taking private tuition.
It also said that an armed outfit called the Nationalist Council of Kanglei (NASOCK) had already claimed responsibility for the Ukhrul blast.
The claim of NASOCK proves that Manipur police failed in its investigation into the Ukhrul blast and is trying to cover up their inapt investigation by arresting innocent women and children, Thomas Numai contended.
