Exercise stressed on World Health Day

As in other parts of the world, the World Health Day 2023 was observed at Lamphelpat today.
The observance was organised by Indian Medical Association (IMA), Manipur State Branch under the theme "Health for All" .
Speaking as the chief guest, Wangkhei Constituency MLA Thangjam Arunkumar said that the theme of the programme is very suitable as all people should have access to healthcare facilities.
Saying that the World Health Day advocates bringing about a healthy society where all people irrespective of their backgrounds have awareness of good health, healthy lifestyle and access to medical facilities, the MLA maintained that the day also spreads awareness on mental health.
The MLA went on to state that every individual must exercise daily for at least an hour as advised by the experts.

"Without good health we can't do anything and as such health should always be top priority," he added.
President of IMA, State branch Dr RK Lenin said that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has been observing World Health Day annually to promote health awareness and keep everyone with sound mind and good health.
Many speakers such as State director of Art of Living Roshnikumar, vice president of IMA State branch Dr S Gojendra Singh and Joint Director (Planning) of Manipur Health Services Dr Y Premchandra deliberated on "Spiritual Health", "Mental Health" and "Non Communicable Disease" respectively.
An extempore competition was also held for the medical students as a part of World Health Day and the winners were given prizes.
A cyclathon was also taken out from Kangla western gate up to Lamphelpat in the morning.
Earlier, Dr Lenin spoke as a resource person in the Hello Manipur broadcast of All India Radio on the significance of World Health Day.
