State Level Science Exhibition begins

The 33rd State Level Science Exhibition organised by the Science Unit of Department of Education (S) has kicked off from today at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound with Director, Education (S) H Deleep as Chief Guest.
The exhibition is being held under the theme 'Science and Society' .
Speaking on the occasion, Deleep said that teachers and officials of the Education Department should render their service dutifully to bring about development in education sector.
The Director observed that science exhibition is a common platform for the students where they can share their science models and interact with each others.
Such interaction and platform is a way to motivate the enthusiastic students in the field of science and technology.
Giving description about their models to the visitors also increases the communication skills of the students and help them in their career.
Selected students from the exhibition would represent Manipur in the Eastern India Science Fair which is to be held in Kolkata this month.
Manipur will send 15 exhibitors, five students for quiz programmes and five teachers as guides for the science fair, he added.

Additional Director (School Hills) Ranjan Yumnam said that information technology is advancing at a rapid pace in today's world.
Internet has now become a major part of education as students can find information they want over the internet.
Students should do extensive research and studies in order to produce more effective and advanced science models.
On the other hand, teachers should also understand how the world is advancing in the field of science and technology and provide proper guidance to the students, he added.
Students from different schools of the state are participating in the exhibition, exhibiting more than 40 science models.
The exhibition would go on till December 4.Quiz competitions on science and technology will also be held as part of the exhibition.
