Imphal, January 02, 2013:
While noting that charge-sheets in the Jangthailiu Kamei gang-rape case have already been prepared by authorities concerned, the JAC against the Inhumane Gang-rape of Mrs Jangthailiu Kamei has urged the Government of Manipur to take relevant steps for ensuring that bail application of the main accused is rejected.
In a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister, copies of which were also submitted to the Home Minister, DGP and Secretary (Law) of the Government of.
Manipur, the JAC claimed that bail application of Laikhuram Rojit Singh of Porompat JN Hospital Road should not be considered as it camera to light during the investigation by the JAC team that there was was no serious health problem cited by the main accused in his bail application.
Moreover, contention by the medical officer (Jail doctor) that Rojit is suffering from paralysis is totally, irrelevant for Rojit was found in a healthy state at JN Hospital when a JAC team reached there on December 27, the memorandum highlighted.
Further contending that the bail application was based on fabricated/manipulated information provided by the Jail doctor, the JAC urged the State authorities to initiate thorough probe to authenticate Rojit's health problem claims as well as initiate punitive action in case its charge of the Jail doctor acting in a partial manner is found to be true.
