Joint Students' Coordination Committee (JSCC) has appealed to all the students in the State to wear their institutional dress code in a manner not to embarrass anyone.
Speaking to media persons at Manipuri Students Federation's Keishampat office on Wednesday, Convenor of JSCC, Longjam Umakanta said that following last year's statewide campaign against use of mobile phones and intoxicants by students, JSCC took the decision of imposing dress code for all the students and teachers in schools/colleges/university.
Explaining the dress code, Umakanta appealed to all the girl and boy students under of class I-VII to wear skirts and pants respectively and the girl and boy students above class VII to wear Phanek and formal pants respectively.
In his appeal to teachers, Umakanta made it clear that no teachers should don salwar-kameez, saree and jeans pants that are not pleasing in manner and appearances in front of students as well as inside the classrooms.
Member of JSCC, Thangjam Premanda appealed that students should strictly follow the particular dress code prescribed by their respective institutes.
He also requested the school authorities to keep vigil on the dress code
of the students.
