Malaria haunts border village, medical team dispatched

A medical team equipped with test kits and medicines have rushed to the border village of Suahphuh, located about 4 kms from Behiang, after four villagers who were undergoing treatment at the District Hospital here tested positive for Malaria Pf, the most acute and severe form of the tropical disease.
The villagers with symptoms similar to that of Malaria were admitted to the District Hospital this week.
As attending doctors suspected it to be a case of Malaria, they were tested for the disease by the Malaria Department yesterday which confirmed the disease.
On getting information about the matter, the Chief Medical Officer Churachandpur Dr Thangchinkhup Guite immediately mobilized resources from the department and dispatched a team comprising of six staff early today.
"We have sent our team with test kits, medicines, treated mosquito nets and chemicals for treating mosquito nets", he said.
Once the medical team returns along with their detailed report, the Department would be able to say if the disease is prevalent or not, he added.
