Imphal, August 26 2010:
The certificate and marksheet of MSc in Mathematics, on which basis, an individual has been appointed and working as a part-time lecturer in Mathematics in Government Colleges under the Higher Education Department for the last 12 years have turned out to be fakes.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, a reliable source said that the teacher in question was appointed in the Higher Education Department as a part-time lecturer in Mathematics in 1998 .
However, his certificate and marksheet of MSc Mathematics on which basis the appointment had been given were found to be fakes after an investigation by the State Vigilance Commissioner.
During the course of investigation into a case related to the Department, the Commission came across the documents of one Md Riyajul Haque of Thoubal Moijing Wangmathaba, who claimed to have pass MSc Mathematics from Manipur University in 1994 under roll no.218 .
To verify the documents, the Commission had written to the Examination Controller of Manipur University.
In its response, the Examination Controller clarified that there was no such roll number in the Mathematics examination of 1998 .
After confirming that Md Riyajul Haque had been first given appointment as a part-time lecturer in Mathematics at Manipur College, the Commission despatched a written summon to him.
But the latter did not respond.
From further investigation, the Commission came to know that the part-time lecturer had been subsequently transferred to Kha-Manipur College.
Accordingly, another written summon had been sent to him but to no avail.
A written summon had also been sent through OC Thoubal Police, but Md Haque has not responded and appeared before the Commission till date, said the source.
Based on the report of MU and the documents collected from the Department, the Commission has ruled that the certificate and mark sheet of M Sc Mathematics produced by Md Haque are fakes and has accordingly recommended to the Commissioner of Higher Education to terminate the service of Md Haque.
