Imphal, August 26 2010:
A-14 year girl of Standard-VIII, allegedly taken away by a cadre of a Kuki based militant group around three weeks back, is still kept concealed and out of contact.
The family of the girl reported today.
The girl Kiyam Kiran Kuki of Moirang Phairenbam Leikai, studying in Standard-VIII at Natlou Junior High School, has been missing since July 30 after she went to school.
The mother alleged that her daughter was taken away by Lambem Hangshing, a cadre of a Kuki based underground group as her wife as informed by Molnom Village Inpi.
The mother of the girl Phairenbam Mema, speaking to reporters here, at Manipur Press Club, Imphal today, said that the Molnom Village Inpi had informed that her daughter had eloped with Lambem Hangsing but since the day she went missing no contact could be made, alleging her daughter has been kept concealed.
She recalled that on that very day (on July 30), one of her daughter's local friends, Takhellambam Miralukshmi came twice to meet Kiran.
Kiran was seen going out with Miralukshmi and another boy of the locality, Phairenbam Boycha (19) who is said to be her boy friend.
They met with Lambem at Molnom village where Miralukshmi and Boycha were forced to return home leaving behind Kiran.
Later, as she went to search for her daughter, she and her freinds were turned out from the village after an assault, Mema alleged.
On the third day, the mother of Boycha informed her that her daughter had eloped with Lambem Hangsing and handed over a statement written on a letter head of the Molnom Village Inpi signed by its secretary informing that Kiran is with Hangsing.
However, her daughter is yet to be produced even though she has demanded for it.
She suspects that her daughter did not elope but was sold by somebody to Hangsing to be cadre of the underground group.
Representatives of UCM, AMKIL, CLK, UMO and Kangla Mei also attended the press conference.
